Jackson and Kalyn's wedding was such a joy-filled day that included many personalized baseball-themed touches! These two had their first look at Barton Field in Urbandale, a baseball field named after Jackson's dad. Their ceremony took place on the green at Principal Park; Kalyn's sister and Jackson's grandfather stood with them in support. I loved all the classy red, white, and blue details and getting to capture everything in photos! Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Barton!

Here's a short little look of my engagement session with Kalyn and Jackson! These two are getting married in about a week and I'm so happy we squeezed in an engagement session beforehand.

Will and Chelsie celebrated their one year anniversary this July, just a few weeks before Skyller and I celebrated ours.

We laughed about how we weren't at each others' weddings last year. We feel close now but we didn't all really get to know each other until last fall when our connection group got started. The four of us were all newlyweds. After a year of digging into Scripture together, talking through various life events, trials, and sins, and just walking through life in general together, we grew a really cool friendship! Will and Chelsie lead the group along with another amazing couple and we're so thankful for all they do.

Spending time with this family is seriously always a joy. If you know Bailey, Walker, and Eloise, you know that too :) Bailey and I met in college and were honestly quite slow to friendship. God had something much deeper planned for us though because I met my husband, Walker's cousin, at Bailey and Walker's wedding. These two model graceful and humble parenting to us daily and Skyller and I have loved getting to watch Eloise grow up. An incredibly energetic little girl, photographing little Lou is always an adventure! I think some of these candids capture her quite well-- enjoy!

 

There's something special about photographing someone you've known basically your whole life. My cousin Kelsey and I go way back (obviously) and I have so many fun memories of our time together growing up. Her and Tanner's story is adorable-- it involves a meet-cute in high school and then an actual meeting at band camp at SDSU. I don't remember the first time I was able to meet Tanner, but I had always noticed how "meant to be" these two seemed. That came through when they fit together effortlessly in front of the camera for their engagement session.

 

We took these photos on my aunt and uncle's acreage and we couldn't have had a more beautiful, personalized backdrop for these photos. Enjoy a few of my favorites from Kelsey and Tanner's engagement session.

 

Katelyn and Genaro's wedding was so beautiful and full of personal, Christ-centered touches. I first met Katelyn at college when we were both pretty new in our faith. We bonded through church, Spanish classes, planning for study abroad, and salsa dancing :) She is truly one of the sweetest girls I know. When I first met Genaro it was so apparent that their love was rooted in and modeled after Christ's love for the Church. Their wedding day was a gorgeous reflection of that. 

We had so much fun celebrating Katelyn at her bachelorette party last Friday! She's getting married in less than a month and Bailey hosted this sweet picnic, among other things, to honor the bride-to-be. We love you, Katelyn!

I love having the opportunity to photograph my coworkers and students! With this family I got to do both. Stacie is a second grade teacher at the school I taught at the past two years and Claire (her youngest daughter) was my art student during that time. Here are a few of my favorites from their session in the East Village in downtown Des Moines - enjoy!

 

I had so much fun getting to know Brittany and taking her senior photos! 

 

This girl is so full of personality and confidence to speak her mind. She's into speech and theater, loves to sing, and is a stage management rock star. Like me, Brittany is a self-described "mom" of the group and it was cool to hear her speak so highly about her best friends. 

 

What I noticed most in her character was her sweetness and maturity and I love that I was able to capture both those things in these portraits. Enjoy!

These two cuties have been my faithful subjects since before they remember! Here are four of my favorites from Easter with my nephews a few weeks ago.

 

 Because photography is my side hustle, there are some things that get put on the back burner. I started second shooting with Katie Lindgren over a year ago and have loved the opportunity to sharpen my skills with her. I'm just now getting around to editing some of the photos I've taken at weddings and, as I glean through them, am excited to see my progress. Shauna and Ross's wedding from the spring of 2016 is too pretty not to share!

I had so much fun photographing the Olson family last weekend. I met the Olsons through school and they helped us get started on essential oils. I have had three out of four of these kids as my art students and the youngest, whom I haven't had, was such a cheeser for this session!  As the school year winds down, this session was a great way for me to ramp up to my summer portrait season!
